Scars are particularly unique to the human experience because although they are superficial and only expressed on the skin, they represent pain, a memory of that pain, or even a feeling that cuts much deeper than the surface. Scars are the intersection of exterior manifestations and the corresponding roots they have within us. Through the use of audio and imagery, I explore this duality. This project takes the form of audio narratives, black and white video footage and still images. My goal is to create a platform through which individuals can explore the intersection between pain and empathy, allowing them to take a deeper look at how they view the pain of others and how they process their own.
